The problem with tracking days manually

Most digital nomads track their country stays in a spreadsheet, a notes app, or not at all. That works until it doesn't — and by the time it fails, you may have quietly crossed the threshold that makes you a tax resident in a country you barely consider home.

The 183-day rule is automatic. It doesn't care that you were "just passing through." It doesn't care that you never registered anywhere. Spend more than 183 days in a country within a calendar year and that country can claim the right to tax your worldwide income — no paperwork required on their end.

Existing tracker apps attempt to solve this with manual entry: you log each trip, each exit, each return. In practice, people miss entries, forget transit days, or simply stop logging after two weeks. The app becomes useless exactly when you need it most.

Meridian Log takes a different approach. Because MeridOS eSIMs are active in a specific country at any given moment, we already know where you are. We turn that signal into an automatic, always-accurate residency log — with a warning at 150 days so you have time to act before you hit the limit.

How it works

Three steps. Zero manual input.

eSIM-Activated

We detect which country your eSIM is active in — no GPS, no manual check-in. It just works.

Automatically Tracked

Days per country accumulate silently in the background. Your running total is always up to date.

183-Day Alert

You get a push notification at 150 days — giving you 33 days to decide: stay or move.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 183-day rule?

If you spend more than 183 days in a year in a single country, you automatically become a tax resident there — regardless of your nationality or visa status. This rule applies in most countries worldwide and can trigger full worldwide income taxation.

How is Meridian Log different from other trackers?

Most tracking apps require manual entry — you have to remember to log every trip. Meridian Log reads your eSIM activity and tracks your days per country automatically, without any input from you.
