Will MeridOS work on my phone?
Most modern eSIM-capable iOS and Android devices are supported. We include compatibility checks before checkout and setup. If you are unsure whether your specific model is supported, contact support with your device model and OS version before purchasing.
Can I use hotspot on launch packs?
Yes, hotspot and tethering are available on launch packs unless a destination-specific carrier policy restricts it. Any restrictions are noted directly in the pack details before checkout.
Do I need a new install when topping up?
In most cases no. Top-up eligible packs reuse the same eSIM profile and extend your data and validity from your account without rescanning a QR code. If top-up is not available for your plan, rebuy is the fallback and requires a new QR code installation.
How do I install an eSIM?
After checkout, you receive an installation QR code in your order summary. On iPhone, go to Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan and scan the code. On Android, go to Settings → Network → SIM → Download a SIM. The profile installs in seconds and activates automatically the first time your phone connects to a supported network at your destination. No store visit or physical SIM swap is required.
What happens if I exceed 183 days in a country?
Exceeding 183 days in a single country within a calendar year can trigger tax residency obligations in many jurisdictions. MeridOS does not issue tax advice, but the Meridian Log tracks your cumulative days per country and sends you a warning before you reach that threshold. If you receive a warning, consult a qualified tax advisor familiar with your home country and the destination country before deciding how to proceed.
Which countries are available?
The current beta covers 10 markets: Thailand, UAE / Dubai, Portugal, Spain, Indonesia / Bali, Japan, Italy, USA, Mexico, and Vietnam. Each destination offers a three-tier pack ladder — Starter, Core, and Power — plus multi-country route packs for common nomad routes. Additional destinations are planned based on beta demand and community feedback.
Can I use multiple eSIMs at the same time?
Most modern smartphones support multiple eSIM profiles stored on the device, but only one or two plans can be active simultaneously depending on the model. You can keep your home country plan active alongside a MeridOS travel eSIM and switch between them in your cellular settings. Installing a new eSIM does not delete existing profiles — you manage them from your phone settings.
What does MeridOS cost in beta?
Pack prices vary by destination and data tier. Starter packs begin at under $1 USD for 1 GB and 7 days. Core packs for a standard 30-day month range from $4.70 to $14.50 USD depending on the market. Power packs with 20–50 GB start from $8.20 USD. There are no subscription fees or account charges — you pay only for the packs you purchase. Beta pricing reflects early-access rates and may change at general availability.
How accurate is the automatic tracking in Meridian Log?
Meridian Log tracks your days per country based on when your MeridOS eSIM is active on a local network. It records the country of the active plan, not GPS location, so it reflects connectivity rather than physical position with perfect precision. For planning purposes this is sufficient for most nomads. For formal tax documentation, use the log as a starting point and verify with passport stamps, boarding passes, and a qualified advisor.
Does MeridOS work with every smartphone?
MeridOS requires an eSIM-capable device. Most iPhones from XS onwards, Google Pixel 3 onwards, and Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards support eSIM. Some budget Android models and older flagships do not. Carrier-locked devices may also block new eSIM profiles depending on your operator. Check your device settings for an "Add eSIM" or "Add a Data Plan" option — if it appears, your device is compatible. If you are unsure, contact support before checkout.
What is the difference between MeridOS and Airalo or Holafly?
Airalo and Holafly are eSIM marketplaces with broad catalogues across hundreds of providers and countries. MeridOS is a curated layer on top of the same underlying infrastructure, but built specifically for long-term nomads and location-independent founders. The key differences are: a three-tier pack ladder that matches short stay, standard month, and heavy-use patterns; the Meridian Log, which tracks 183-day tax residency thresholds automatically; and a private founder network for nomads who want more than just data. MeridOS is not trying to cover every country — it is trying to cover the 10 most important ones very well.
How do I join the MeridOS beta?
Join the waitlist from the homepage or any download link. Once your spot opens you will receive an email with a personal onboarding link to the app. Beta access is reviewed manually to keep the cohort focused on active international travelers and founders. There is no payment required to join the waitlist.
What happens when I run out of data?
When your data balance reaches zero, your connection on that eSIM line pauses. If your plan is top-up eligible, return to your order history in the app and add more data to the same active line. If the plan only supports rebuy, purchase a new pack and install the new QR code. MeridOS notifies you when your balance is running low so you have time to act before connectivity drops.
What is the Meridian Log?
The Meridian Log is the MeridOS tax-presence tracker built for digital nomads and location-independent founders. It automatically records which country your eSIM is active in and accumulates days per country across your purchase history. When you approach the 183-day threshold in any market, it sends a warning so you can make informed decisions about when to move on. You can export the log at any time. The Meridian Log is a planning tool — it does not constitute legal or tax advice.
